A pletora of tools are available to start an e-commerce project, some of them are really expensive and others are just free.
A brief search on sourceforge returned 206 results of open source e-commerce projects.
I already know some small companies or individuals who use oscommerce and who are really happy with this solution but i’m really sure that there’s some more competitive tools which worth a try !
